This domestic portrait to depicts a household of some local standing. The seated figure at centre is presumed to be the maternal head, with two younger dependents arranged at either side. The smaller child’s proximity suggests a period before formal schooling age.
The presence of carefully maintained attire indicates that the family observed social visiting customs. Similar compositions appear in several recovered interiors and may have served as a record of household continuity.
